These defenseless animals are having their lives put to an end because of irresponsible owners. The law instead should be cracking down on them. How can you kill such an intelligent animal? I agree if the dog has previously attacked and seriously injured a human then fair enough, providing this was not an act of self defense by the dog. In pounds some dogs may snarl or what not, but is probably due to the fact they are scared. I have owned dogs before which snarl at strangers too but in the end they only end up licking the person to death. To place an animal to sleep after such a short period is…’I have no words for it’….I don’t agree with placing them to sleep at all. I would like to ask the minister if his mother was to get alzheimers and wandered off, would he put her to sleep?…no didn’t think so, although she may have alzheimers she still has feelings. Who made you god and gave you the authority to say who lives on earth and who dies?? Try solving this issues of stray animals by targeting their owners, if owners are given hefty fines then they are going to be more careful arn’t they!!

Please don’t punish the victims (dogs) & go after the abusers. 48 hours is not enough time for owner & animal to be reunited = TOO SHORT a waiting time.

For what possible benefit? 48 hours is not long enough in most cases to be able to trace your lost pet. What if it is picked up on a Fri afternoon? Will it be destroyed first thing Mon morning?
